Frankincense is an Essential Oil that pretty much everyone has heard about but most people don't know or understand the amazing benefits that come from using this product. As I have done research into Frankincense I've started to understand why for 1,000 of years it has been one of the most sought after oils.  The first time I used Frankincense was about 6 months after my little boy had to have stiches. The doctors suggested Mederma but I didn't see much of a result, at the time I was still new to essential oils and thought, there has to be an oil for this!! Luckily there was! I started to apply Frankincense with a little bit of coconut oil on his forehead once a day. After a week, I could already see a huge difference.

For nearly 5,000 years a rather unsightly Boswellia tree, which produces a heavenly fragrance was considered to be Arabia’s most precious commodity. During the height of its popularity the Boswellia  – better known as the frankincense tree - rivalled gold, silk and gems in value and spawned a vital trade route that for centuries extended from Southern Arabia into West Africa and India. This route is now known as the Frankincense Trail.

Oman's Frankincense Trail is 2400 miles long and follows the Coast of the Red Sea.  Camel caravans would come over the Silk Road (also known as the the 'Frankincense Trail') into Southern Arabia, where they would cross the empty quarter. Some of the camel caravans would be two and three caravans strong – 6,000 camels to a caravan–crossing the empty quarter headed for Petra. This is where they would offload the camels and into the storage chambers.
